There are times when it is a good thing to sit back and look at the patterns that you have established in your life. We are creatures of habit.  You start doing something for a specific reason, and it ends up being a welcome addition to your life…so you keep doing it. Then something else gets added to your morning routine so you can start your day right. At some point you talk to a friend who swears by her    midday meditation and you think what the heck, I’ll give it a try. And you love it. Then there’s your after-dinner centering process and perhaps yoga and breathwork several times a week in the evening. Before you head off to bed each night, you spend time in your gratitude state and write in your journal.

So, when does it get to be too much? When do you know if there is something else that could take you to the next level.?

I am not suggesting that you should stop doing anything that is truly working for you…but…just like we should always continuously take a personal inventory of our emotions, beliefs, actions and responses, we should keep our habits and daily practices in check too.

How do you know if a daily ritual is still helping you the way it originally did?  Finish these three statements?

I do this because………

From this I expect to receive………

The evidence that supports the success of this daily ritual is………

If you cannot clearly and easily answer both of these, perhaps you are just going through the motions. Perhaps it’s time to switch up your routine.

After all, if you cannot clearly state the benefit of something you are doing, is it really there?
